Man Smuggles 600,000 Eels On Plane - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect on an article based on a Man Smuggles 600,000 Eels On Plane.

A passenger allegedly tried to smuggle 600,000 endangered live eels onto a plane from Heathrow. Border Force officially arrest the man who is 64 years old for custom offences. The 200 kg of European "Glass" Eels would be worth $2.1m on the black market. Glass eels are a prized delicacy in the Asia.
I think that this is absolutely disgusting because how if the eels are in the polly bin and the polly bin falls, the eels will slither everywhere and because the 64 year old man is smuggling 600,00 slimy and gross eels on a plane of passengers. Also him wanting money when he gives the Glass Eels to the people in Asia who will give him lots of money is greedy.

Underwater Volcano near Tonga - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about an article based on Underwater Volcano Near Tonga.

I just realised that there is a underwater volcano named "Submarine Volcano lll" (Which is in Tonga "Hunga Ha'apai) that is actually near Tonga which is my home country. The volcano has been erupting for a week according to a GNS Scientist and Nasa Images.

It is situated about 46 km northwest of Tonga's Capital, Nukualofa. There are still satellite images from the underwater volcano taken and is proved that the underwater eruption is still underway and going.

I think that this is really really sad because this country Tonga is actually where I come from and is my culture, and having a underwater volcano near my home island hurts so much that I pray to god to keep this island safe. Even though it's just 46 km away from Tonga, it is near the capital of Tonga also which is Nuku'Alofa.

5kg Of Coins Removed From Turtle - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about a article based on 5 kg of Coins Removed from Turtle.

Thai vets had found 5 kg of coins inside a turtle named Omsin. The green turtle had been living at a conversation centre Sriracha, Chonburi, East of the Thai capital Bangkok. The turtle ate 900 coins that were thrown into her enclosure for good luck. The coins and other objects were removed from the turtles and also in Thai, Omsin means Piggy Bank.

I thought that this article was upsetting because how the turtle didn't have anything proper to eat and all she ate was just coins and other objects. But I am really happy that she is still alive from that awful surgery they did on her.

Trump Welcomes First Wave Of White House Tourists - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about an article based on Trump Welcomes First Wave Of White House Tourists.

Donald Trump had greeted the first wave of tourists to the White House since his inauguration Tuesday (Local Time). Donald came from behind a french screen and surprised the crowd by welcoming them to his home and as they were cheering, many of them were actually fifth - graders from Birmingham, Alabama who packed their bags to come to the USA just to take a glimpse at the 45th president Donald John Trump.

Here's Donald Trump welcoming the Tourists!

Donald Trump's White House Tourists!

Donald Trump hugging Jack Cornish who is 10 years old!

My thoughts and opinions about this article is amazed because I really thought he is a bad and mean person to the United States Of America. But he probably is still a mean person in the inside because he looks pretty kind in this article by hugging a young boy and welcoming tourists to his house.

Thankyou for reading and please leave your thoughts about this article in the comments! I hope you like it!

Kiwi Can Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about Kiwi Can!

Today after Morning Tea, We had Kiwi Can so we walked downstairs and headed to the hall. I felt so excited because how the new instructor Lily was there and how she was really kind and confident to people even though it was her second week here at Tamaki Primary School.

Here is a picture of Mr M and our old Kiwi Can Instructor Miss Latoia!

As we got to the hall, Mr M told us to get into 4 lines so I did what he said was in Group 4. Mr M then said a greeting that we all had to guess that was Aloha and the greeting Aloha came from Hawaii. After we said our greeting, we went straight into our energiser and our energiser was we had to get into partners and in 15 seconds, we had to tell them our favourite food, holiday destination, what we want to do in the weekends, and favourite colour. For Example, My favourite food is Butter Chicken, KFC and Tongan Food, My holiday destination would be Dubai, My favourite colour is Blue, and I like to hang out with family and go to church on the weekends. The energiser we did was great because we got to learn a bit from each other.

After we finished playing our energiser, we sat back into our lines and talked about what a agreement and a disagreement is. I thought that disagreement was similar to what we did in the morning and what we did in the morning was that we had to come up with reading group names and all of us had a idea but had to agree and disagree about which one is great so the final reading group name for our group was Reading Cheetahs and I thought that it is a great name. Our activity was called Code Breaker and the way you play this game was very simple. On a paper, You have to draw 3 lines of 3 dots and you will have to connect the dots to make a code, so we got 18 chairs and and placed 3 rows of 3 chairs on the left side of the hall and did the same thing on the right side of the hall, but make sure that the starting and finishing line are different colour chairs so you will know where to start and finish. After people start trying to break the code.

I thought that this game was a spectacular game because how everyone was participating and contributing, and also how they were encouraging players in their team to work together and to try and solve the code. My team won the first round and then we had to verse the other team that was winning and had beat them too. Once we finished, we did our finishing chant with Mr M and Lily and went back to class.

Pair killed in National Park crash were a brother and sister from Gisborne - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about a article that is based on a Pair killed in National Park crash were a brother and sister from Gisborne.

I just realised today that a Pair that was actually a brother and sister from Gisborne died in a car crash just yesterday morning when their car collided head with a truck and trailer unit between Ohakune National Park. Shakayla Te Huna - Tamanui who is 22 and her brother Nazareth Te Huna who is 14 died instantly in the State Highway 4 crash which happened at about 7.50am.

My thoughts about this are really upsetting because how a brother and sister had died and they could of had so many years to live. Their family must be crying because how precious and caring they were. I hope God is taking care of them in Heaven and May they Rest in Paradise, Love and Peace.

Kiwi Can Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about Kiwi Can! Week 5!
Today, Room 9 walked down to the hall because we had a Kiwi Can lesson. As we reached the hall, I saw Mr M standing in the corridor and when Room 9 walked up to him, we saw a female adult standing in the hall so Mr M gave us each four numbers and we had to go and sit in the hall next to the bins with the number groups we were in. When all of Room 9 got our numbers and sat in our groups, Mr M introduced the person that was standing next to him and she was a Kiwi Can instructor just like Mr M. We tried to guess her name but Demetrius got it right because her name was Lily and he guessed it. She is such a great Kiwi Can teacher and was great bonding with us and showing a positive mindset. Then we played an energiser game which was called Compliment Circle. So us girls and boys had to get into separate groups and Mr M put two hula hoops on the floor and as we walk around in a circle, and the music stops then the person that was in the hula hoop last and say a compliment about the other person who stepped last into the hula hoop their using. After we played the game, we talked about how we should speak to each other in questions properly. Then we played our activity, My Group and Group 2 had their debate on why we should and shouldn’t wear school uniform. Then Groups 3 and 4 had their debate on why we should keep our lunch time 40 minutes and why we should make lunch time 2 hours. I thought it was great that we got to participate and contribute into the activity and also how we just made up some of our own.

Australia's Jellyfish Beach - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect on an article based on Australia's Jellyfish Beach.

I just realised that thousands of jellyfish had been washed up on a beach that is Queensland, Australia. The name of the Jelly Fishes are Blue Blubber Jelly Fishes that have completely covered the sand. According to a Marine Biologist, Dr. Lisa-Anne Gershwin said the unusual sight was likely caused by warmer water and an absence of predators. Also wind and tide conditions may have also been factors, and according to the locals the jellyfish had started to smell "Pretty Rank" which I don't know what it means.

My thoughts and opinions about it is that it is pretty disgusting having jellyfish washed up on a beach because if you accidentally step on it, the guts will splatter out and it will just be terrible. To me it pretty much looks like light blue bubble wrap since it looks like it.

Rainbow's End Reflection - Akanesi

IALT: Write a reflection about what I did Yesterday.

On Saturday Morning at 10am, My family went to Rainbow's End. The reason was because My mother would be coming back from the Queen's Funeral in Tonga on Tuesday and since we mostly clean up and do the chores everyday when she is here, my sister decided to take me and brother Pate, also including our aunty Mary (So my sister can have company with) and cousins Jonathan, Api and nephew Sione, and Nikolasi (But sadly he couldn't make it because he went with my Brother In Law's band Three Houses Down to probably Wellington to do a performance and between you and me, his stage name is General Fiyah.) It was great that we got to spend time with Family since everyone was busy with other things but decided to have a Family day out.

I was so happy to go with my cousins to Rainbow's End because we always like to go on really scary rides so we could face our fear of heights but the most scariest ride that we all went on was the Stratosfear. When I was on the Stratosfear which was on the Less Extreme, I was a bit upset because I never knew that it would just go halfway and I thought that I would scream and just be wanting to come off but I was wrong so we prefered to go on the Extreme and when we went on that ride, it felt like my face was going to come off and how we kept on going upside down was insane.

I think that Rainbow's End was honestly the funnest places on earth and I would love to live there and keep enjoying the rides. Rainbow's End is a great theme park for families to enjoy because all of the rides and my family loved it. My favourite rides were the Stratosfear, Power Surge, Fear Fall, Invader, Log Flume and Scorpion Carts.

McCartney Sets Another New Zealand Record - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about a article that is based on how McCartney Set Another NZ Record.

As I read the article about the Olympic Bronze medalist Eliza McCartney breaking the Oceania Record on her way to winning victory at the Auckland Track Challenge on Monday, I was completely surprised because she had vaulted 4.28 metres which adds one centimetre over Alana Boyd's Record. The jump was two centimetres ahead of her own to national record.

Eliza McCartney

Alana Boyd

I think that Eliza McCartney done a great job beating New Zealand's record and who Alana Boyd's record which is the same thing probably but I feel fantastic that Eliza McCartney got the chance to beat Alana Boyd's Record.

Shark Breaks World Record - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about an article based on Shark Breaks World Record!

A new record has been broken by a Mako Shark that had travelled over 20,900km in under two years. The shark whose name is Hell's Bay has travelled almost halfway around the earth. The discovery was made by a scientist at Florida's Nova Southeastern University. They tagged and then tracked the dangerous creature from May 2015 and it was first tagged off the coast in Maryland, USA.

My thoughts are about this article are pretty interesting because how he travelled halfway around the earth and also how they are excellent swimmers who are well-adapted and active open water sharks.

Do Blackhead Facemasks Work? - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about Do Blackhead Face masks Work?

Two girls had put Charcoal blackhead masks to the test and the results were surprising. On Instagram, Twitter and other social medias, the blackhead face masks had gone viral because how it takes out your pores and is surprisingly really hurtful and sore. So there is a beauty vlogger who's name is Josie K peeling a blackhead mask from her face. As she peeled her facemask, the results were pretty amazing because there were bits of blackhead masks still on her, she told her fans that all of her pores were gone and her face was really smooth. Check out the pictures of her putting on the facemask and peeling it off!

My thoughts about this article are pretty insane because it hurts really much when you peel it off your face but at the same time as your peeling it off your face and it all finishes, your face becomes smooth and your pores go away and also get ripped of by the Blackhead Face Mask.

Christchurch Mother Continues To Search For Son's Ashes - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about Christchurch Mother Continues To Search For Son's Ashes.

A Christchurch mother has been continuing to look for her son's ashes after they were stolen. Their house had been burgled and had jewellery taken, The burglar must of thought that The couple's ashes were drugs so they stole that too. The other night, They could not sleep because they kept on wondering that they were missing a person and the Christchurch mother had been thinking to herself that the son's ashes who is Thomas has just been thrown into the rubbish but also kept on thinking to herself that, that is not what happend.

My thoughts about this article are actually interesting because their son Thomas's ashes had been stolen and the burglar that stole it must of thought that it was ashes. But it is very upsetting since it is their only child and how their begging for their son's ashes back.

11 Year Old Girl Nearly Abducted Reflection - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about a 11 Year Old Girl Nearly Abducted.

There has been an incident on Tuesday 28th of February, Where a man attempted to abduct a 11 year old girl while she was walking to school. The man had following the girl for around 200 metres on St Heliers Bay Rd. As the little girl nearly reached school, The man had come up from behind her and had grabbed her but luckily she managed to break free and sprint to her school as quick as she can. The young girl told a teacher about the incident and the teacher noticed that she was serious because she was obviously shaken.

My thoughts about this article is terrifying because you will never know that if I walk to school by myself even though it's close, I could get abducted myself from the same man or a different man so In my opinion for all those who are reading to tell your parents to drop you off to school because if you walk to school one day, The same incident could happen to you.

Thankyou for Reading and please remember to leave a comment down below about you thoughts and opinions! I hope you like it!

Youtube Stops 30 Second Ads Reflection - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about Youtube Stops 30 Second Ads
Youtube has stopped 30 second ads that you can't skip and Adverts are a enormous part of Youtube and how the video owners make money just because of it. Youtube usually gives you the chance to skip it after five seconds but that didn't really happen that much because before you watch the video that you are wanting, you will have to watch a whole 30 second video before being able to get access to watching the Youtube video that you will be wanting.

In my opinion, I will have to agree about how Youtube is cancelling 30 second ads because sometimes when I feel like watching a video that I want to watch, the 30 second ad comes up and I just get sick of it because how I don't want to watch that company add, I would rather want to watch the video that I will be getting relaxed with and how my stress goes away.

Technology Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about Technology

Today, The whole syndicate went to Technology at Tamaki College. Group 1 was with Miss Ferguson doing Graphics, Group 2 was with Mrs Tuipulotu doing Cooking, and Group 3 which is my group was doing Hard Materials with Mr Grundy. As we walked to the room where we always work and make our wood toys with Mr Grundy, I felt so excited because how I was already up to nine ideas so as we sat onto the desks or benches, I went up to the whiteboard and wrote my name down so Mr Grundy could come and see my nine ideas that started with 2 joints to make an object that has a purpose or a use so as he came up to me, he was very impressed and told me to start working on it. I thought that it was great that Mr Grundy was proud of me because finally I actually finished something that I don't have to work on for too long so also I was very impressed and proud of myself. But sadly, just as I finished my work of drawing a big neat picture of a Truck that I was going to make as a wood toy and all the measurements, the period for Technology had finished. I was very upset that I didn't get to start on it but just thought to myself that it was alright because I could finish it next week. Thankyou for reading my reflection about Technology! Please leave a comment down below about your thoughts! Thankyou very much!
