IALT: Challenge myself and solve subtraction problems!

G'day and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

So today, Room 9 is doing Maths! Since I am in the group Islander Maths, We have to do our group basket which is activites for us to do and to solve in our head with our peers in the same group too. I am working independently while the others in my group are working together, So today - Since I do struggle with my subtraction, I have decided to a subtraction work sheet that I have found in the group basket.

I have been struggling with subtraction when I was young and also multiplication. Now that I have grown, I have been challenging myself with multiplication that I have struggled with for the past few years, So as I said - Now that I am grown a bit - I have challenged myself so now I think that I am good at multiplication - I am working on my subtraction problems...

I've came up with a new skill to show you and here it is:

  • 14 - 6 = 8
  • Strategy - (8 + 6 = 14) So every equation you get, You have to try and guess what the second number needs to add on to the first number on your equation.
  • (It's hard to explain but that's what I could think of so far.)
What are your thoughts on my work?!

Thanks for reading!

IALT: Reflect about Kiwi Can!

Aloha and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

So yesterday, We had Kiwi Can at 12:15 with Ms Lily! Since this is a new term, We have a new topic which is Respect! We talked about the topic for about 5 minutes I think and then we got straight into our energiser! For our energiser, It was Sally Up & Sally Down. This energiser was kind of like a fitness energiser because we had to do squats and Ms Lily will have to play the song!

But then when it says "Big Sally Up" then we will ALL as a class stand up and then when it says "Big Sally Down" then we'll have to squat! So Ms Lily put the song on and we followed the instructions that were given by her. It was hard at first because it will like keep on going "Big Sally Up" and "Big Sally Down" and then we'll have to hold our squats until the song says "Big Sally Up". Most of us were tired from this energiser and our knees were sore too but we kept on going!

Then when the song stopped, We were all happy! After that energiser, We had to go back and sit on the mat and talk about the topic more which is Respect with Ms Lily! What the word Respect defines me in like my own words means like respecting someone and being positive to them, And accepting who they are and treat them the exact same way you would want to be treated by other fellow students/classmates!

Then after our little discussion that we had with Ms Lily about Respect, We got straight into our activity! It was like the same thing but we got split into 2 different groups and one group is the knowledge group and the other one is the group doing physical exercises.

It was kind of like choosing to do physical activities like sports or just stay in the classroom and doing work. So when we finished the activity, Ms Lily asked if we would do Physical Exercises all day or Knowledge and we all picked Physical Exercises.

She was expecting us to pick knowledge but instead we all picked physical exercises. Then our Kiwi Can session came to a finish. I had a wonderful time and I can not wait until next week for our next Kiwi Can lesson!

What I found challenging during our Kiwi Can lesson was doing the Physical Exercises, The reason why is because I am not that fit and I ain't that type of girl who could hold it the longest but I tried my best and overall, I think I did a great job!

My next step is to pay attention to the person who is talking and to try and avoid distraction from others and since our topic for this term in Kiwi Can is Respect, We should respect our teachers and others too.

What are your thoughts on my work?!

🙏Apitanga Recount🙏

IALT: Write a recount about Apitanga (Church camp) this weekend!

Hello Everyone and Greetings to you....
Welcome back to my blog!

Sorry for the late blogpost this weekend, But I was at camping at Church. We do this every six months like every April & October in weekends! It was blast this weekend and I had SO much fun so now I am going to tell you what happened!

So on friday night, We went to Evening Church. After that, We ALL had to stay there so we could agree or disagree on the Mother & Father of Apitanga, Leaders of Apitanga and also the securities! In the end, We sorted it out and carried on with the programme!

After our programme, We had to go and unpack our mattresses, blankets and other supplies we needed from the car to where we were sleeping. I usually sleep with my mother in the Loki Fai Kava (Kava Room) but since my mum didn't come, I slept with my first cousin in the Foya.

Don't worry because we do NOT sleep near the boys. So the boys and men sleep in the hall but since the kitchen is in the hall and how the ladies cook our breakfast, lunch and dinner, We always tie a rope from these 2 walls facing each other and put a sheet on top so it could cover and give them privacy.

But anyways, Since the door to church is in the foya, Us girls sleep in there so we're the only people who go to church through that way since we sleep there and the boys go to church from the outside door before they invade our privacy.

Now let's carry on with the reflection. So luckily, Me and my older cousin found a space because their was a LOT of girls who slept there but at the end of the day, We ALL found a spot to sleep at but I recommended that our spot was better (Not to brag).

So when we finished making our beds, We headed to dinner outside. It was BBQ chicken, steak with Potato Salad, Raw Fish salad, Patties and all sorts of yummy stuff! Then we headed outside to sit down and sang some songs while waiting for the prayer so we could eat!

So when the prayer started, We closed our eyes. Then it finished, So we began to eat. The food was delicious but then when I was enjoying my food, My aunty asked if I could to a Thankyou speech since one person from each table had to do one so I obviously said YES!

I was nervous and wanted to get it over with. So I just ate and ate then waited, Then after - I stood up and did my speech. I was extremely happy that I got it over with and luckily it was a good speech too.

Then after dinner, ALL of the youth had to go to the actual church and we sang songs and prayed to god thanking him for keeping us alive for another day and talking about our problems to him and asking him for advice. Then also asking him for his forgiveness because of the bad mistakes we have did in life.

After all that, We went to sleep. The next morning as usual, We had breakfast - (Peaches, Rice Bubbles, Spaggetti, Toast, Bacon and Egg) - It was ALL delicious and I was so full from it.

Then we had sports, I was SUPER DUPER excited because I LOVE sports! I forgot to tell you that the day before, We got divided into groups for our sports day. The groups were Hope Team (Blue) - Miracle Team (Green) - Honesty Team (Red) - Belief Team (White).

We all got ready and had our bandanas, face paint, balloons and other cool stuff ready. We also had to make up a chant last minute as soon as we got to the school. Since I go to EMC (Ellerslie Methodist Church), Right next to that church is Ellerslie Primary School so we usually go there and do sports! So we got there and made up a chant! For this chant - Credits go to Tripoli House (TPS) for bringing this Idea to my head for our chant! The chant goes "Leader: WHOA, WHOA, WHOA WE! Team: WE'RE THE AMANAKI (Hope) TEAM! Leader: WHAT'S THE 2x WHAT'S THE TIME 2x! Team: GAME TIME!".

We battled against others at chants and WE WON! We were all so happy and joyful! Then after that, We played a dance game - We had to pick one boy and one girl from each team to go up and have a dance battle!  So from my team, I went up and my first cousin Taliai went up with me too. But it was the girls turn first so I had to go up! Since us Tongans are a bit crazy at dancing, My team was tell me to crawl to the middle. I started laughing and then I agreed.

So it was the red team's first. They were go WILD yelling out "GO TEAM KULOKULA (Red) 7x". Eventually, The girl started dancing, We are first cousins - Our team were cheering for because we're humble and she did a extremely great job! Her moves were on and couldn't help laughing and cheering. Then next up was my turn! I was super excited, So I had to crawl to the middle first. ALL of the teams laughed and I laughed at the same time. Then I did some dance moves and everything...Up next, It was my niece - She's literally only a year 4 and she killed it!

We all were cheering for her and then after her turn, it was her older sister's turn. She also killed it with her dance moves. Then we had to go back to our teams and they all killed it!!! Then the both of us had  to go to the middle and dance, So after that finished - Me and my cousin won the boy and girl dance battle, Red team won the girls dance battle, White team won the boys dance battle!

After that, We played a game. Each team had to pick 3 people to go up and play. Then when we got into our team lines - We had to eat a lemon, Then take a shot of sugar and then take another shot of water! I thought it'll be yuck but then it was actually yum!

We were ALL happy because we got victory! There is a meaning to the game which is Lemon represents our sins, Sugar & Water represent something but I forgot. Then after that game we played this blindfold game where 2 people from each team and had to choose one person to put the blindfold on and it was kind of like a race because the other person had to lead the person that is blindfolded.

We sadly came last but oh well. The meaning to this game was like trying to follow the right paths but the person in front you that is leading is God and he is trying to make you follow the right path even though there are sounds that are distraction, You just need to listen to God's voice!

Then we versed each other at Netball and Touch. We were the lucky winners in Touch but the green team beat us in Netball. But we we're humble and kept it good. Then we went back to church, showered, did our programme, had dinner then went back to sleep.

The next morning, We did our normal morning routines and went to morning church. After that, We came back and relaxed, and then waited for breakfast. Then when breakfast came, We ate then went to go and get ready for afternoon church!

When afternoon church was finished, Me and my cousins wanted to make the most of our Apitanga so we did All Nighters. But most of them failed and slept while me and my 2 cousins are still awake!

Then we slept at 3 and woke up 10:24. We got up, showered, brushed our teeth, got changed and then packed our bed! Then with the speaker, We played music while cleaning and also while the ladies were making food for us to eat.

But I went home early and I had a great time at Apitanga!

What are your thoughts and feelings on my work?!

IALT: Find new ways on how to cook or bake food!

Malo e Lelei and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

So in the morning as usual, Kia Manawanui went to Technology! I was so excited because this was the first day back to Technology in Term 4. So for today, We made Pin Wheel Pizza! I worked with my peer Constance who is a year 7 like me and we worked together to make this food.

It was cool getting to be back in the Technology because it was the first day back to Technology in Term 4. I was excited because we were gonna make food which is my favourite obviously cause food is life!

So if your willing to learn how to cook this, Then here is the recipe!

Step 1 - Lay out on the dairy product chopping board
Step 2 - Paste the pastry with tomato paste
Step 3 -  Dice pepper, tomato, onion, salami and spread on top of the pastry
Step 4 - Top up with the cheese and roll with round
Step 5 - Back 180 degrees celcius for 15 minutes.

And this is the finishing product - (I didn't have the proper image of the food I made):
