Turtle Washes Up On 90 Mile Beach - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect on an article based on a Turtle that washes itself up on the beach!

I just finished reading a article and it literally nearly broke my heart! A turtle has been washed up on a 90 mile beach! It is a critically endangered animal called a Hawksbill turtle that is being nursed to health now and It was exhausted, dehydrated, not eating and sadly was missing a flipper!

I am really heartbroken because turtles are common in my culture because of it's beautiful patterns on their shells and how kind they are to us! So usually we will paint them in our tapa cloths which are called a Ngatu! I am also really upset because turtles are one of my most favourite animals in the world because whenever I go to Tonga, The clear water that surrounds it had beautiful and lovely turtles swimming around it which made me so excited that I actually got to hold a baby turtle!

Now reading this article makes me sad! I do really appreciate sea animals and Turtles are mostly the animals I love and care for! This turtle was very skinny as you can see and the nurse that was taking care of him said that he had been eating plastic around the ocean when he wasn't washed up to survive!

Luckily, since they kept on doing check - ups on him, On his latest one, He has been showing encouraging signs and improvements that he has done.

That Sugar Film Part 1 - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about That Sugar Film (Part 1)!

Today, I and my buddies Ana and Leilani worked together on a presentation about a film we watched call That Sugar Film! Yesterday in the first block, We watched 30 or 25 minutes of the film and had to write about what we learnt on a presentation that Ms Komor and Ms Kyla shared to us!

Here are some photos of some finished slides we did!

What I learnt in the film for Part 1 was there are four types of sugars and they are Glucose, Sucrose, Lactose and Sucrose. One fact about one of these sugars which is Glucose is a very important sugar that it helps our body and helps us survive and Lactose is a sugar that our body is concerned with and that doesn't know what to do with so that's why doctors and scientists are trying to figure why our body doesn't know how to work with the sugar Lactose!

Thanks for reading bloggers and Please leave some of your thoughts and opinions in the comments! Bye!

IALT: Reflect about my blog profile!
Today, I have made a blog profile about myself for my bloggers!

In this google drawing, I am sharing with you things about me and My favourite colours, subjects, Goals, and Quote!

What I found challenging was talking about how I could achieve my goals and then look back to this Blog Profile and see that I did achieve my goal!

That Sugar Film Part 3 - Akanesi

IALT: Work on a presentation about That Sugar Film Part 3 that we just watched this morning!
Today, I have worked on this presentation about a film that we had watched which was That Sugar Film! In this presentation, We had to find definitions for words, Think about how food companies persuade us to buy their products.

What I had found challenging was finding Answers to solve about How Damon (The person who is experimenting with sugar by eating it and seeing how it could affect our body) is affecting his Whare Tapa Wha!

That Sugar Presentation Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about working on a presentation about a film we still need to watch called That Sugar Film!

Today for the morning, Room 8 had to finish up on Part One for our documentary that we were watching called That Sugar Film! In the film, There is a man named Damon who did a experiment with Sugar and put Sugar to the test by eating it and seeing how it could affect our body!

In the beginning, He weight seventy something kilograms and around his stomach, It was seventy something inches too. Now that he's eaten sugar for the past 2 or 3 days, The measurement around his stomach is 97 inches!

He talked about 4 different sugars that are in your body and they are Sucrose, Fructose, Lactose and Glucose! One thing I know about one of these sugars is Glucose and Glucose helps your body survive and is a very important sugar for your body!

I also did a presentation with some peers too but We've still haven't finished but here are some slides we have completed!

Karaoke Friday - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about Karaoke Friday!

Last Week Me, Losana and Ana had the duty to do Karaoke Friday! It's every friday lunchtimes and also even in rainy days for the seniors so they could come and participate in it! It was the first Karaoke Friday last week and it went great! Lots of people came along and participated in the event! At 1pm, Losana and Ana went downstairs to set up with Speakers and Microphones (As you know by now, I didn't know how to work the speakers).

When they were setting up, The bell rang and they hadn't checked the microphones yet but it was disaster because everyone was already coming in for Karaoke Friday and still haven't checked the microphones yet! So they checked all of it and it wasn't sounding great so they checked the last black microphone and it was a miracle! Because it had worked so we started the first Karaoke Friday!

It was wonderful to see everyone participating in it and kids coming on to the stage picking a song because how their wanting to sing and that! After everyone sang, The bell had rang sadly and everyone had to go back to class while we pack the rest of the Karaoke Friday objects!

What I found challenging was when most of them didn't want to sing, So we had to cheer them on somehow! But most of them got up and chose their song and sang! It is a happy and joyful feeling when someone gives a new thing a go and also how they could express their love for music so that's why we made this club too!

Pink Shirt Day!

IALT: Write about Pink Shirt Day!

Image result for pink shirt day 2017

Today at Tamaki Primary, We are celebrating Pink Shirt Day! We are wearing pink to donate to the Mental Health Foundation but at the same time stop bullying! Pink Shirt Day is a day where people where pink and even boys wearing pink to stop bullying. Bullying is a disturbing and harmful thing that happens around this globe! There are four types of bullying to which is Verbal Bullying, Cyber Bullying, Relational Bullying, Physical Bullying.Image result for pink shirt day shirts

Pink Shirt Day started in Canada 2007 when a new year 10 boy wore a pink shirt day to school. He got harassed and threatened just by wearing Pink! So his friends decided to buy millions of Pink Shirts then told the whole class to wear it so the next day, Nearly the whole school wore pink and in my mind, We shouldn't bully each other by our differences and to those bullies - DON'T BULLY OTHERS BY DIFFERENCES!

I think that it is a great idea that the mental health destination gets to support and donate to people! And also it was a great thing that the boy who got bullied from just wearing a pink shirt got helped out and the next day, nearly or most of the school was wearing pink!

Ariana Grande Concert Attack - Akanesi

IALT:Write a reflection about an article based on about Ariana Grande's Manchester Concert Attack!

In Manchester which is a city in England, Ariana Grande had her concert there. While she was performing, A massive bombing came in! Sadly 22 people had lost their lives so my prayers go out to their families! More than 50 people got injured too! One of the Manchester bombers was a british-born guy who's name was Salman Abedi and also one of the police officers were one of the guys to planned and helped with the bombing.

Ariana Grande's Mum Joan was to me one of the superheroes there because she lead 10 or probably more backstage and comforted them. If the bomb didn't happen then she was just gonna go and say Well done to her daughter Ariana Grande and congratulate her with her tour but their nightmare happened.

This is horrifying and I will be so depressed and scared if I was one of the people. I feel so sorry for the people who got hurt and also for the people who lost their lives! It's so bad that the bombers think that it is a good idea to interrupt a live concert, in front of a live audience and doing something so stupid that horrify's so much people

Technology - Akanesi

IALT: Create a google drawing about me!
Today for the first day of Technology with Miss Ferguson in Graphics, We had to create a google drawing all about us! Ms Ferguson showed us an example of hers and now I know she likes Scooby Doo, Game of Thrones, Oranges, Flowers, Maths and Other Things!

So in this google drawing, It has all of the things I adore and love! Also a favourite quote of mine is in this google drawing too and I really admire that quote! It is very fun in this class because we get to laugh and giggle with Ms Ferguson but at the same time do work!

It's really funny because there is a car in this google drawing and no, I do not have a car like it but it is my dream car for when I get older! There is also a LOT of food in here aswell because I love food and Food is LIFE!

What I enjoyed was that it is a great start to the day being in a new Technology classroom and great getting to learn new things with Ms Ferguson and keep the things and ideas Mr Grundy told us when we were in hard materials!

Thanks for reading and I hope you like my blogpost!

Beekeeper Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: use SOLO framework to recall and respond to information we heard in our interview with a beekeeper!
This week, Sam the Beekeeper came to Room 10 to talk about Bees! Surprisingly, Sam is Miss Kyla's Husband and I didn't even know. He came into Room 10 to talk about Bees with Kia Manawanui, What I found challenging was all of the words he said like Frames, Drones and Other Different words that were related to bees.

I found out that there is no King Bee and that the female bees are the hard workers who take care of the honey while the boy bees (Drones) just sit back and relax eating honey. But they do die when Winter or Autumn, but basically they got kicked because since they eat alot of honey, Bees need to restore their honey for Winter and Autumn so they have to kick out the drones.

Food In My Culture - Akanesi

IALT: Talk about putting food in my culture in the food pyramid!

Yesterday, Room 9 had an Inquiry Lesson with Ms Aireen for our Topic Healthy Eating For Term 2, 2017.

In the Food Pyramid, The First Layer is Vegetable & Fruit (Which is Eat Most), The Second Layer is Grains and Starchy Vegetables (Which is Eat Some), The Third Layer is Legumes, Fish, Seafood, Eggs, Poultry and Meat. The Fourth Layer is Milk, Yoghurt and Cheese, Then the Last but not least layer is Healthy Oils, Nuts and Seeds.

Our Task was to List some or most of our cultural foods in a paper then each table will have to stand up in front of the class and read their paper of their cultural foods. Rosemary and Akih were pretty much the only people in the class who were not polynesian and when they read out their foods in their culture, It sounded amazing to hear that they are not afraid and saying it in Filipino or Chinese. In Filipino, Food is Pagakon and In Chinese, Food is Sthru.

It was fun during our Inquiry Lessons because now I know how to say Food in different Languages!

I think that The Inquiry Lesson Yesterday with Ms Aireen was a very great lesson because we got to communicate with others and show the Tamaki Primary School Value which is Whanaungatanga!

Thankyou for reading!

Technology Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about going to Technology.

Today, Kia Manawanui went to Technology this morning. Sadly it was the last day today for us going to our original groups because next week we will be going to switch around so Group 1 goes to Cooking, Group 2 goes to Hard Materials and Group 3 (Which is my group) goes to Graphics.

It's going to be exciting to go to Graphics with Ms Ferguson because I am a Year 7 and it's a new thing for me as well but I am going to miss Mr Grundy's Workshop, but at least I will get to go next year. I was pretty lucky because I finished the product I made at The Mr Grundy's Workshop. I have made a Toy Truck for my 3 year old nephew because he's just at home resting cause he is sick and has been sick for over a week now so I decided to make a Toy Wood Truck For him!
Here is a Toy Wood Truck that is Similar to my one!

I felt so proud of myself for finishing of my Toy Truck and So happy and excited that I will be giving my Toy Truck to My three year old Nephew Next week! Just a special thanks to Mr Grundy for helping me out in Hard Materials and Helping out with my Toy Wood Truck and to this day, I am so proud of it!

Kiwi Can Reflection - Akanesi

WALT: Reflect about our Kiwi Can Session!

Yesterday For our Kiwi Can Session, We were learning about Integrity and Honesty. Miss Lily told us that Honesty is the best Policy! Then we got straight into our energiser, Our energiser was that we had to get into 4 groups, Then we each get given a animal noise, For example our animal noise for group 2 was a dog's barking Noise which was "Woof Woof!" and the other animal noises were "Ssssss!" (Snake), "Baa Baa" (Sheep), "Raa Raa!" (Tiger).  I would tell you the name but I had Forgotten it! To play the game we had to yell out "Woof Woof!, To the dog to the sheep!" and just keep going.

Sometimes we have battles with each other but it's so funny! After we played the game, We had to sit down on the mat and talk about the responsibilities and how we could show integrity to others. Then we got to play our activity which was Animal Control and it was Girls vs Boys. One boy and one girl had to face each other and when Miss Lily calls out a animal, we will have to make the sound of that animal and the actions to it. Rosemary, Bianna and I were the only people out of the girls who got to play and I think I got 4 or 5 people out, Rosemary got heaps of people out, and Bianna got 2 or 3 people out.
In my opinion, I thought it was pretty cool going to Kiwi Can because we got two new Kiwi Can Teachers who are Miss Lily and Mr Malu. It was a great experience coming back from the Term 1 holidays to Kiwi Can and they are pretty cool people and very joyful people!

Te Oro Concert - Akanesi

IALT: Reflect about how I went to The Te Oro Concert!

Last Saturday Which was before Mother's Day, I went to Te oro in Glen Innes. There was a concert there and My Brother In law Charlie was performing with my nephew Nicolas who is General Fiyah because he is in a band called Three Houses Down. I, My Sister, Nephew and First Cousin went to go support him, His 2 Brothers and The Band.
Image result for te oro glen innes

He went earlier with my brother Pate with his 2 sons (Which are my nephews) to Te oro so they could set up when they perform. They had to go perform because It was Te Oro's 2nd Anniversary/Birthday so the local people that lived around Glen Innes got to perform but even though Three Houses Down was from Otara, My Brother In Law who is the Lead Singer lives at my house which is in Panmure decided to perform with the Band and Support one of their Band Members Christian who works at Te Oro.

I felt so happy when they decided to perform because it was a very special day for the people who worked at Te Oro and also to the manager Jenny. It was a blast at the end of the night when General Fiyah performed because the crowd the went wild!

Thanks for reading and I hope you like my reflection about Te Oro!

Kiwisport (Basketball) - Akanesi

WALT: Make a reflection based on our Kiwisport!
Today, Room 9 went down to the basketball courts to have our KiwiSport. Our KiwiSport was Basketball. We were learning to pass properly like Chess Passing, Overhead Pass and Bounce Passing, and our Instructors were Hyrum and Peter. They came from a company called ABSL, It's a Basketball Company. We had to partner with someone so I decided to partner up with Leilani. We had face each other then move a few steps back then Chess Pass to each other.

Image result for basketball

Hyrum said that if you Chess Pass correctly and get no mistakes then the rest had to do 10 star jumps while you said there and watch. So Me and Leilani gently Chess Passed correctly and guess what? Me and Leilani did the best Chess Pass so we just got to stand there while the rest get their punishment.

We played 2 games and one of them was called a Miami Drill and we were having to do 3 Layouts to win. We got into 2 teams and competed with each other. We had to Chess Pass to each other and as soon as we got to the Basketball Hoop, we had to shoot the ball into the hoop.

The team that gets 3 points first wins while the other team had to face their consequence, Sadly we lost so we had to do a Suicide Runs.

What I found Challenging was when we had to do Overhead Passes. I was struggling because my arms hurt when I putted it over my head and chuck it to my partner who was 5 or 6 steps away. Also the other game that we played had running in it and I was struggling to run because it was so slippery that I ankle braked but Lucky I didn't injure my Ankle.

I felt so exhausted before but it was a good wakeup call to the KiwiSport we were doing. I also felt tired and dizzy when we were doing drills because there were so much Running.

Thanks for reading and I hope you like my Kiwisport Reflection!

Anzac Poem - Akanesi

WALT: Create a poem about Anzac!
Today, I have written a Rhyming Poem about Anzac!  If you don’t know what ANZAC means, It means Australian New Zealand Army Corps! What I found challenging was trying to search up the words that rhyme with some other words that I used in this poem! I hope you enjoy it!
ANZAC POEM!
April 25th was the day the soldiers fought. They all were stressed and they all were nervous. All were generous, All were bright, They fought for their country and knew it was right. They watched Poppies grow and march through the muddy grounds, now to this day, we wear it around. Together we mourn while you battle at dawn and worry for you while you’re still at war. Lest we forget to all those soldiers and we will march and remember those brave men.

Math Anzac Tables - Akanesi

WALT: Answer timetables and crack the code!
Today, Room 9 did Anzac Tables. On the paper, there were timetables on it and we had answer them, after that we had to crack the code in the bottom by using the number in the bottom of the letters that were in the bottom. The codes were Lest we forget, Today we remember them and Australian New Zealand Army Corps.
Here is at photos from my work!
