🎉Happy Late Birthday Dad🎉

IALT: To reflect about my dad's birthday yesterday!

G'day mate and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

Yesterday, It was my father's birthday and He was turning 68! Sadly, He passed away on June 20th, 2014. So as soon as ALL of my siblings, mum and nephews arrived home from work and school, We went straight to to the Purewa Cemetery to visit my Dad and wish him a Happy Birthday! We came with a Elvis Presley cake and candles since Elvis Presley is his absolute favourite singer! We also came with balloons so ALL of us get one each so we could let it go into the sky, But before we did that - We took the cake out of the box and put it next to my dad's grave, Then we took photo's and put the candles on the cake then lighting it. My younger nephews blew the candles and we then sang Happy Birthday to my Father! We were sad because 2 siblings were missing from our little celebration at the cemetery and it was my older sister and brother who lived in Australia!

But was more upsetting was that my older brother's son is my dad's namesake and they weren't able to come because they were very busy but my older brother and sister were the first people who sended their birthday wishes for my dad to us and they wished they came but they couldn't! So after singing Happy Birthday to my Father, We untangled the balloons and wrote lovely messages onto it with a black sharpie so my father could read it when we let it go to Heaven! As we let the balloons go up into the sky, It was so fast that 5 seconds later - It was already up high in the sky. So as we watched the balloons go to the sky, We ALL yelled out "WE LOVE YOU DAD/GRANDPA!" And said our goodbye's to my Father and also my Grandmother whose grave was just across my father's grave.

It was tearful knowing that he was gone, But we think about him EVERYDAY and NIGHT! Rest in Paradise Soane Tava Tu'uholoaki! Gone but NEVER forgotten, You will 24/7 ALWAYS be in our hearts FOREVER!

Many Thanks!

💚Kiwican💚

IALT: Write a recount about Kiwi Can!

Jumbo and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

So after lunchtime, Room 9 and 10 had a Kiwi Can lesson together since Room 9 couldn't have Kiwi Can because we had swimming so the teachers decided we'll do Kiwi Can together for this Tuesday and next Tuesday! It was so funny and we talked about our topic for Kiwi Can which was Resilience and we talked about facing challenges and etc....Ms Lily was there but I think Mr Malu went somewhere so it was just Ms Lily, She said that this week's and next week's Kiwi Can session is going to be FUN! Since this is the last 2 weeks until Term 4 holidays! I still can't believe that it is nearly the end of the year and ALL of my Year 8 friends are gonna go to college, But I'm just gonna focus on what's happening now. So after we talked about the word Resilience, We played a game and it was Girl vs Boys, We had to pass the ball around and try to tag the boys out but we could not run or throw the ball at them! They mostly got us girls out but luckily I was one of the last 5 who was still in the game when the boys had to tag us, I got tripped up by Sene which made me get tagged but oh well, It is what it is.

After that, It was the boys turn and we got most of them out too, No offence but most of the girls had butterfingers (Like catched the ball and slipped out of their hand). But overall, we played really good! Then we sat back down and talked more about our topic and what we also have been talking about for the last couple of weeks! Then since it was Room 9 and 10 having the Kiwi Can lesson together, Room 9 sat in front of Room 10 but like 10 spaces forward and played another game. So Ms Lily had a netball, Little soccer ball and a rugby ball, So whenever she puts a ball down, we have to play that game and score a try or a goal for our class but for the rugby ball, It ain't rugby, it's touch! I ended vs Huriata myself in hand soccer, It was a challenge because she was really good at it but she won, but anyways Humble Winners and Gracious Losers!

Then in the end, Kia Manawanui said ALL together "Thankyou Ms Lily!" and sat back down and listened to what the teacher was saying! They were giving us reminders so we could come with our togs tomorrow so we could go swimming!!!! Then after that, We had to do Boy-Girl-Boy-Girl around in a circle. Ms Kyla says that you have to ask the person next to you if you want to hold hands or link arms so since I was next to Sifa and Toma, We just linked arms and did our afternoon karakia then went home!

Do you have Kiwi Can sessions at your school?!

What are your thoughts on my work?

Many Thanks!

💪Quotes💪

IALT: Share some inspirational quotes with my fellow blog viewers!

Hello and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

I have decided to share some of my favourite quotes that really inspired me to be the learner I am today! The reason why I want to do this is because these powerful and wonderful quotes inspire me to do new unique things and pursue goals and dreams of mine in the future so these quotes motivate me to become a better person even when I do make HEAPS of mistakes in life, but I know making mistakes help me because I learn from it!

Here are the quotes:
Image result for don't let the fear of striking out

(1) - I absolutely love this quote because it is from one of my ALL time favourite movies which is The Cinderella Story! What this quote personally means to me is not making my mistakes stay in the way of me pursuing my dreams and I could be wrong but this is what it means to me so I am so grateful that people have came up with this quote!

(2) - So this is a quote that I made on a google drawing and it says "Don't Change Yourself, Be Yourself!". I personally made this quote up and I have searched it up on the internet many times and no quote like that has came up so I decided to make it as a quote! The reason why I love this quote is because often people change themselves because of the way others treat them or judge them so that's the reason why!

Is one of these your favourite quotes? And if yes then why?

Many Thanks!

🇳🇿Maori Language Week Assembly🇳🇿

IALT: Reflect about our assembly!

Tena Koutou Tamariki Ma and Greetings to you all....
Welcome back to my blog!

So at 9:30, Room 9 went down to the hall for an whole school assembly. It was about Maori Language Week since we didn't get to do an assembly last week so we decided to do it today.

There were 2 hosts who were dressed up fancy and their names are Constance (Year 7) & Frances (Year 8)! They had their korowai and poi's etc...So the assembly started and we started off with then New Zealand national anthem.

Then Ms Kyla talked to us about the maori culture and then we sang 3 songs after every activity we did as a whole school! The songs were - Te Aroha, Tutira Mai and a song that was written independently by Ms Kyla which was Te Wa o Tamaki!

Then Ms Kyla picked some people to play a Maori game and in the beginning, We had to start off with "Takahia Paki te piti piti paki" and then add on a dance move and then in the end, we add the dance moves up and try remember it and do it!

After that, We did the karakia and went back to class!

What are your thoughts on my work?!

🎤Three Houses Down🎤

IALT: Write a reflection about the reggae band Three Houses Down!

Ola and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

As you ALL might know, I am related to this reggae band which is Three Houses Down! The lead singer who is Charlie Pome'e is my brother in-law because he is married to my older sister which is AMAZING! Then he also 2 older brothers who are in the band too which is even more AMAZING!

The people who actually started the band were Charlie and his 2 brothers. They were in a church band but things didn't turn out great so they decided to come up with their own band and create their own music so they could share out to the reggae fans!
Image result for three houses down

So years came by and they did a INCREDIBLE job with writing music that made reggae fans go WILD! So now, Three Houses Down are helping the next generation of Three Houses Down create music and it's WONDERFUL because this boy is only 11 years old and is already popular with his music!

This boy's name is Nicholas Lotima Pome'e, He is 11 years old but his stage name is General Fiyah. You probably have already heard is first song which was "Love and Affection" and it went viral with over a million views which is Mind-BLOWING! He only has one brother and believe me or not but he's actually my nephew because his grandma and my mum are sisters which makes me and his mum 1st cousins!

I am happy for this band and look forward to their next song!

What are your thoughts on my work?!

Many Thanks!

Bonjour! And Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

On Thursday, Kia Manawanui went to Technology at Tamaki College! I was excited because I remembered that I was in Cooking! By the way - It was Tongan Language Week so we dressed up on that day and went to Technology like that. We were suppose to wear uniform but Ms Aireen forgot to give out that message the day before but oh well.

So as we arrived to our Technology classes, We sat down at our tables and the session began. We were making Cinnamon Muffins with Jam in the middle like inside. For this recipe, we needed:

           Materials:
  • Wisk
  • 2 Bowls

😱Rock-Climbing😱

IALT: Reflect about Rock Climbing!

Aloha! And Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

At 3:00, My family got ready to go to Rock-Climbing for my niece's 2nd birthday. I was extremely excited because I haven't went EVER since my birthday back in 2016 on January, So I got a chance to go again! I went with my older sister and my 2 nephews. When we arrived, It was 4:37 but the birthday starts at 4:00 so we got there late but nek minute...They are still setting up so the birthday was on Islander Time.

We helped them set up and then after that, We took ALL the little kids for a walk around the place while the adults take a rest for once. As soon as we got back, We just played around for probably an hour and then my papa came, so we ALL sat down and he did a prayer.

Image result for happy birthday

Then the prayer finished so we sat at the Kid's table and ate. Therefore, We were still hungry so we ate most of the adult's food, Luckily there were a bit well a LOT more for them to eat. After that, We got told the plans that will be happening.

So as we finished eating, We got told to sit on the floor and play "Pass the Parcel". The parcel was massive so we were excited, We played Tongan music and passed the parcel around, The first kid got a spider man and avenger superheroes, The second kid got a Frozen toy, The third kid got pink slime and some lollies, The fourth kid got a Spiderman stationery kit, The fifth kid got some jewellery, Then the last but not least kid got an Alphabet Puzzle Kit! It was a big kit too!

Image result for pass the parcel game

After ALL that, We finally got to go downstairs and wear our Harnesses so we could rock climb. At this stage, I was more than extremely excited that I knew everything on how to put the rock climbing rope onto your harness then take it off.

But the instructor taught us how to do it because there were some new comers who didn't know anything but it's alright because atleast they know now. As we was finished, He picked three people to climb first, so I was one of them.

We raced each other and my nephew was pretty much winning but I catched up and I won because I got to the top first. But at first, I was petrified because I was up so high that I was about to literally cry because my biggest fears are heights!

I started to be silent, and everyone slid down but just accept me. I just went still for 5 minutes to try get over it and then I slid myself down using the rope, When I reached the ground, I was happy because I got over my fear and I won the race!

Image result for Extreme Edge Rock Climbing

Then, I just went rock climbing with my close cousins and we had a AMAZING and INCREDIBLE time! Then 2 hours and 30 minutes later, We had dinner - Our dinner was delicious because we had take aways and fast foods which was FANTASTIC!

Straight after that, We went back to Rock Climb. But after I finished climbing my 3rd rock climbing wall after Dinner, My cousins suggested for us to play "123 held". We played and I had such a great time because all of us weren't even serious and was just laughing the whole time!

But sadly after that, We had to take our harnesses off and pack up. I was sad that I didn't get to rock climb after we played "123 held" but I had a fun day because I nearly rock climbed on every single wall they had there and reached the top!

So then after, I was happy and got my party pack then went back home! This was a wonderful night and I am very merry that I got to spend LOTS of time with my close family!
Have you EVER been to rock climbing? and Have you EVER been afraid of heights?

Many Thanks!

🇹🇴Tongan Language Week🇹🇴

IALT: Reflect about yesterday's assembly!

Malo e Lelei and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!
So since this is Tongan Language Week, We had a whole school assembly and I was in the Tongan Group so we did a Tau'o'lunga! I did two Tau'olungas which was with the Tongan Group/Teachers and with Lydia! We've been practicing for weeks...and weeks...and weeks.

It was a surprise to us because Ms Tafea were teaching the dance to Ms Komor, Ms Ashley, Ms Park and Ms Morrison. So when it got to the day, They did an INCREDIBLE job for their very first Tau'olunga, But since we were on the stage doing the dance, Nearly the whole school jumped on the stage and started dancing with us.

Image result for tonga

There were so much laughter and joy during this assembly and it was AMAZING seeing the whole school happy and cheerful!!! But before the group Tau'o'lunga, Myself and Lydia did our very own Tau'o'lunga so we worked very well on that Tau'o'lunga and it did turn out Great but not as outstanding as we wanted it to be for us.

Usually, I am the one who forgets the moves to the dance but yesterday, It was Lydia - I knew she will because she does get nervous and ALL so I told her that WHENEVER she gets stuck or has a stage fright to just look at me and copy me. So she agreed, So when we did our Tau'o'lunga, She looked at me then Ms Tafea when we was unsure adn forgot the dance moves.

After the assembly, We had a Food Tasting Festival and to me, it didn't really look like a "Food Tasting Festival" - It looked like a massive feed and I made a Ota which is a Raw Fish Salad. It was delicious so it automatically finshed on the first round.

I was happy at first that everyone liked it but also upset since I didn't get to eat it but oh well. In the end, We washed the dishes and cleaned up (Picking up the rubbish).

What are your thoughts on my work?!

What did you do for Tongan Language Week?

Thanks for reading!

Many Thanks!

🎼Hip-Hop Reflection🎼

IALT: Reflect about our Kiwisport!

Bula Vinaka and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

At 9:40 straight after maths, Room 9 went to the hall for our Hip-Hop lesson with Jasmine. As soon as we got there, Jasmine talked about why she couldn't come Last week and said that her car was really old so it pretty much broke down. After that, We talked about the 4 elements of Hip-Hop which were:
  • Rap - Poetry
  • DJ - Music
  • Art - Graffiti
  • Breakdancing - Dancing
Image result for Hip-Hop
Then we talked about How Hip-Hop was invented so I will right you a small summary about it:
So back in 1973 in New York, Latino's and African Americans needed to find a way to express themselves because they felt Repressed so they invented Hip-Hop and nowadays, It's really popular.

So after that, We got into our groups and started our Choreography dance so we could show to our class in the end of the lesson. I was with Losana and LJ. We had to come up with some moves but I wasn't really on the right path because I was just mucking around which is known as "Playing around" and I didn't get to finish off the dance so I was frustrated.

Then our group went up onto the stage, We did do a bit of a good job but I didn't think it was good enough.

So my goal for the next session is to stay on the right track and stop mucking around.

What are your thoughts on my work?!

Many thanks,
Akanesi

➗ ✖️Maths Reflection➗ ✖️

IALT: Reflect about our Maths Session in the first block!

Fakalofa Lahi Atu and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

So for maths during this Morning block, I have been working with some peers of mine who are Gary, Siale, Ana, George and Losana. We were playing Multiplication cards by using plain cards and see who could get the most right. So it was pretty Boys against Girls, I am a very competitive female so obviously I wanted my group to win real badly!

We played against them and sadly we lost, I did get a bit frustrated and angry about it but calmed down knowing that we could play another game and try our best to win. But all of a sudden, Ms Komor calls my maths group - Islander Maths to come to the group table so we can start off our group learning session.

Image result for maths

Our WALT was - WALT: Find fractions of a set using multiplication and division. So we started off with a fraction which was - 2/5 of 30 = ?. I immediately knew the answer so I raised my hand up, Others knew the answer too but I really wanted to show my strategy.

My strategy was - Since 1/5 of 30 = 6 then if I repeat the equation 2 more times and get the same answer - The answer will be 12 because 6 x 2 = 12. I was happy that I figured out a strategy to solve it but I didn't get a chance to explain it so I just waited for the next equation.

The other equation was - 3/9 of 45 and also immediately I already knew that answer because I used the same strategy as the last equation. Here is my strategy - 1/9 of 45 = 5 so If I repeat the equation 3 more times then ALL of the answers to those equations will be 5 so 5 x 3 = 15 and 15 is the answer.

After that we finished our group session and headed back to our tables but we had to pack up. After we packed up, We got ready to go and have our Morning Tea.

What are some strategies you would use to solve the number problems?

Do you have any other ways to solve these equations?

Thanks for reading!

Many Thanks,
Akanesi

🚨Tamaki Primary Lockdown Practice🚨

IALT: Specifically explain about what happened during our school's lockdown practice!

Talofa Lava and Greetings to you all...
Welcome back to my blog!

On friday, We had a very important assembly after lunch. So as you already know by now, After lunch - Room 9 straight away (Well not really) did the roll and headed downstairs. We all sat in our seats and the assembly began...

There was a man who's name is Mr Wade, and he was talking ALL about the safety rules in our school and that was pretty much the key info during the whole assembly! We listened very carefully to what he was saying and after all the info he's been telling us about Keeping ourselves safe when things go wrong or terrible inside of school or outside.

Tamaki Primary School has a really LOUD fire alarm which detects if there is a fire or not so if there is , We would do our normal routine which would go outside but Mr Wade taught us something else.

He said that whenever the fire alarm is alerted, We ALL in the classroom should go in the middle of the room, lying down and putting our heads down being silent. If we were mucking around or laughing being immature, Then we could put someone else in danger because they'll get your attention and start doing the same thing.

So we learned our lesson and did a Lockdown Practice straight after the assembly. ALL of the classrooms when back to their classrooms well the year 7 & 8's stayed in the hall.

All of a sudden, The fire alarm rings then stops. So we all ran to the middle of the room and laid down bowing our heads and being quiet. We had to lay down for AGES til the deputy Ms Fepulea'i came to us and said we could get up.

It was a GREAT session for practicing it before it actually happens and we don't know what to do! Some people weren't doing the correct instructions so they had to get detention for the whole week next week.

But anyways, This was a good session for practicing our lockdown when a fire or something happens.

What would you do if there was a fire at your school/house?

Thanks for reading!

Many Thanks,
Akanesi
