Day #5 - One Step At A Time... - Nowhere To Be Found - WLJ

IALT: Write a story about What I'll do if I was alone in the forest!

For Day #5, Curious Kiwi took us around the forest! For our first activity, We had to write a story about What we will be feeling or doing since I am alone in the forest! I just hope one day, this will NEVER happen to me!

Here is my DLO story writing!

So as you can see, There is my DLO (Digital Learning Object) Story Writing! I had so much fun writing this story and added some extra words like Tane Mahuta since we toured him on Day #2!

The part I liked the most about me reading it was when it felt like it was actually coming true which I wish wouldn't because I do hate being alone in the middle of nowhere!

Day #4 - Swimming With Sharks - Bonus Task - WLJ

IALT: Discuss whether Fishermen should be banned from fishing at The Farewell Spit!

So for a bonus task, I had to agree if fishermen could at The Farewell Spit or not! I think that fishermen should be BANNED! Because dolphins live there like e.g Hector Dolphins! They are a VERY special native animal that is found ONLY in New Zealand!

They are the smallest dolphin in the world measuring 1.5 metres long and they are quite rare! Many Hector Dolphins get killed EVERY year when they get caught in LARGE fisher nets! Which is really upsetting because Dolphins are quite kind animals who don't harm humans so I agree that Fishermen should be banned!

All sea animals should be left unharmed, unless they have a great reason not to be!

Day #4 - Swimming With The Sharks - Whale Rider - WLJ

IALT: Write a summary about the movie Whale Rider!

Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog! Today for Activity 2 of Day 4 - Swimming With The Sharks - Winter Learning Journey, I got the chance to watch a movie called Whale Rider where a young girl who raised and born here in New Zealand! I never knew or watched a New Zealand movie with stars in the movie that were born in NZ so I was pretty surprised watching the trailers!

When I finished watching the trailer, I had to rate the movie out of 5. The rating were - 1 = Bad Movie, 2 = Okay Movie , 3 = Pretty Good , 4 = Good Movie , 5 = Excellent! I was pretty confused but luckily I kept on researching and finding out more about the movie!

Here is a DLO I created about the Whale Rider!

I had also themed it blue because the movie is also based about the ocean too!

That's ALL for today! Thanks for reading!

Day #4 - Swimming With The Sharks - Farewell Spit Whales - WLJ!

IALT: identify how the local people tried to save beached up whales that got themselves stuck in the spit!
Image result for Whales

Today for Day #4 - Activity 1,  I had to read something that I was not familiar with which was called The Farewell Spit! If you don't know The Farewell Spit is when a number of whales accidentally swam into the spit and became stuck on the beach. They were unable to swim back to the ocean because the water was too shallow. Many local people tried to save the ‘beached’ whales!

It is quite sad that these incredible whales die by getting stuck in the spit because you never know that these AMAZING whales have been through A LOT and probably just needed to look for food for their children! It is really upsetting but also I am grateful for those locals who try their best to drag these wonderful whales back to sea!

So I decided to create this DLO ALL about this:

That's ALL for Today's blogging! Thankyou for reading!

Day #3 - Wild Eyes - Possums To Kill Or To Live? - Winter Learning Journey!

IALT: Give my opinion if Possums should be killed or should live?

Image result for possums

In my opinion, I think that Possums should be killed and here are my main reasons why:

I do think it is more ridiculous that New Zealand wanted possums in the first place but I do agree with them because they wanted to start fur industry in New Zealand and thought that Possums only ate plants but they were wrong and now they are affecting WILDLIFE!

Trapping, Poisoning and Shooting has now reduced the population of Possums but there still millions of Possums in New Zealand! I did read a book about Possums when I was young and was disgusted about how they acted so now I know that I should disagree!

They have been eating the eggs, chicks and even adults of many other native birds including Kereru, Kiwi, Harrier Hawk, Fantail, Muttonbird, and Tui. They also eat the nectar and berries that native birds like to eat so that there is less food for the birds.

So for bonus points, I will have to upload a picture of me with WILD EYES!
Here it is:

Day #3 - Wild Eyes - Animal Adoption - Winter Learning Journey!

IALT: Adopt a animal and talk ALL about it!

So Today for Day #3 - The first activity is ALL about Animal Adoption! I have chose to adopt a native kiwi! As you might know, Kiwi's are one of the main animals that live in new zealand and that's probably where we got the names from which for e.g "We are the kiwi's" (If you know what I mean).

Here are some Fun Facts about Kiwis:

  • Kiwis have a strong, damp smell which can make Predators smell them from faraway!
  • Their fur are brown so they could blend in with the ground!
  • They sleep during day and wake during night!
  • Kiwis are about the size of a chicken and can lay eggs that are 1 pound each which is CRAZY!

So I decided to create a DLO ALL about this native animal I chose!

When kiwi's see that Predators are coming to eat them, They will either scratch, kick or run away! If it were Real Life -  I would absolute LOVE to adopt a kiwi and keep it as my own but the only problem is that the dogs that come to my house once in a while which could cause a accident!

Hope you enjoyed my Day #2 Animal Adoption!

Day #2 - New Zealand By Land & Sea - Bonus Family Interview - Winter Learning Journey!

IALT: Interview one of my family members about their favourite outdoor activities!

So as a bonus task, I had to interview one of my family members about their favourite outdoor activities so I decided to choose my older sister Tupou - Seini! Even though she is over her 30's - She is younger then her 40's and the reason why am interviewing her was because back in primary, She loved doing HEAPS of outdoor activities! So here are the 5 outdoor activities she absolute LOVES doing:

#1  - Camping - My older sister had A LOT of favourite outdoor activities and as you might know now - One of her favourites are Camping! Back in the 1990's, My sister loved Camping and mostly camped with our church youth but the ONLY thing she hated about Camping was fleas but at least she still enjoyed it!

#2 - Swimming - She LOVED swimming because it helped her to excersise and lose weight (No offence to her though). And now that she has kids - She loves teaching them how to swim so they could be a great swimmer when they grow older!

Image result for swimming

#3 - Fitness - Now she loves Fitness like running and go's for a run all the way to Glen Innes and back so she could lose more weight! During the past 2 weeks, she has lost 10kg and now I am so PROUD of her for achieving a goal! So she is now still carrying on with Fitness!

Image result for Fitness running

#4 - Sport - She LOVES sport and was actually one of the fastest girls in her school for running in Tonga! And one of her favourite sports she LOVES doing is Volleyball! If you didn't know - Tonga is a very athletic country and we doing College Athletics EVERY year!
Image result for sports volleyball

#5 - Kayaking - She does love Kayaking and also loves the ocean and when she was still at college - They would Kayak ALL the way to Rangitoto and then camp there so that's why one of her favourite outdoor activites are Kayaking and Camping!

That's it for Day #2 of New Zealand By Land & Sea!

Day #2 - New Zealand By Land & Sea - Touring NZ - Winter Learning Journey!

IALT: Learn and also tour around the north island of New Zealand to look at active volcanos!

So for our second task, we will have to tour around some active volcanos like Rangitoto, Karekare and Tanemahuta.

I had been given links to access sites that have information ALL about them!  As you might know Rangitoto is a the largest volcano in New Zealand, Karekare is a beach on the outskirts of Auckland and Tanemahuta is the oldest Kauri tree in New Zealand! These are all AMAZING and also interesting places to visit too.

So I had decided read some articles so I could educate myself more about places like these! My family is not really a out-door people but just people who love to clean! But as since I do attend Tamaki Primary School, We do heaps of out-door activities and are able to learn so much about the out-door places we go to.

So therefore, I created a DLO all about the tour and some parts I LOVED about the tour during the visit I had:

As I went on the tour - There were pictures that we were so clear and that I was able to imagine myself actually there at that place! Luckily, I do have a great imagination mind so it was definitley worth it and I had SO much fun touring around the places.

Also out of ALL the gorgeous and wonderful places in the north island! I will have to choose The Karekare beach because it does sound stunning and fabulous. Since it is a beach which is AMAZING honestly. And the only place I have been to out of all of these places is Rangitoto, so I did get the chance to go there with my school peers and I. We did hitch hike long but it was worth it!

Day #2 - 14-Year Old Laura Dekker Sail Around The Entire World (Questions) - WLJ

IALT: Come up with 5 questions relating a 14 year old who sailed across the WHOLE world!

Right now, I just realised that probably in 2009, there was a 14 year old girl named Laura Dekker who sailed across the whole entire world independently! In my belief, If I was her - I wouldn't do it because one of my worst fears are being surrounded by deep water EVERYWHERE and since she is "sailing" across the whole world - if it was me, I'd be scared to DEATH!

Image result for Laura Dekker

So for our activity, we had to come up with 5 questions related to her! So I had created a DLO (Digital Learning Object) to relate to the topic I am talking about! So in the DLO - It has ALL the five questions related to the topic we are now talking about! I also had used 2 main colours which are blue and white.

The reason why I chose Blue - Colour of the sea/ocean because this topic is about sailing and sailing is on the ocean/sea. I did want my DLO to be clear, stand out and attractive to my viewers so they could read it!

Day #1 - My New Zealand Flag Design - Winter Learning Journey🇳🇿

IALT: Design and explain a New Zealand Flag Design that I have made in my own words!

Hey bloggers! Today for a bonus task - We had to design a New Zealand Flag and also explain what the objects represented on it. I had also added in 3 or 4 main colours and also tried my very best to make it attractive, stand out and not to much to others!

When I completed this artwork of mine, I was so proud of myself and this bonus task had been related to last year when New Zealanders got to choose a new flag for our country and I was really surprised that most of our fellow kiwi's chose the old New Zealand Flag so we stuck to that! I also chose the old flag because the current flag was formelly adopted in 1902, 129 years ago which is a LONG time!

So that was the reason why I didn't want to change our flag and I think that was the reason some of our New Zealanders didn't want our "Old" prime minister John Key to change it but I think myself or some of other new zealander's will agree to change it if it was a REALLY long time ago - e.g 2,000 or 1,000 years ago.

And a reason why I wanted design this flag was because I have joined various performing art groups at our school e.g Kapa Haka. I've loved making friends (School value - Whanaungatanga) and showing tolerance (School value - Manaakitanga) to my maori peers at school. And even though I am from the pasific islands - I love to learn about other cultures such as Maori which is known in our country and in our school! I may not be maori but I do love singing in maori and I have to say, they speak in a absolute BEAUTIFUL language and now I am so happy because I can speak some of it too!

During this task, It was hard researching and also trying to design my flag because I am from the pasific islands and I don't know much about the Maori Culture but one thing I do know is that they are absolute FABULOUS!

Day #1 - New Zealand Historical Facts! - Winter Learning Journey!

IALT: Summarise a text I have read that is based about New Zealand History!

Hey everyone! Today I got to do a fun activity about New Zealand Historical facts! Since I have signed up for the Winter Learning Journey, I have decided to complete the first task that has been given to me!

So the first task was ALL about New Zealand Historical facts so one historical fact about New Zealand is that - The first European to arrive in New Zealand was the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman in 1642.

So therefore, that's how we got the Dutch sounding name - from a Dutch mapmaker who first called us Nieuw Zeeland. This was also actually a LONG time (127 years) before a another european came to this country who was Captain James Cook!

Image result for new zealand

I have made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about some facts about New Zealand and What kiwi's love to do in New Zealand!

Also here are some extra information about New Zealand!
Capital - Wellington
Prime Minister - Bill English
Also it is pretty surprising because "The Lord of the Rings" were filmed in New Zealand!
Also a main New Zealand Animal called a Kiwi!

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment below if you have a questions!

Values at Tamaki Primary School✌️

IALT: Talk about the values we have at our school!

Hello EVERYONE! Today,  I am going to talk about the values we have at our school! And One of my ULTIMATE goals is to earn ALL school value badges and if I succeed that! I will be the most HAPPIEST person on earth because I do know that I worked hard for it!

Here are the values:
